Academy Records is a collaborative platform that manifests site-specific installations, stages live performances, and exhibits visual artworks composed with various media, including but not limited to sculpture, film, music/sound, drawing and printed ephemera. Helmed by Stephen Lacy, Academy Records aims to immerse viewers in the many conceptual layers of its projects, which often meld together histories and themes drawn from music, film, industry and landscape. In the past, works have consisted of participatory sculptures and stages, independently produced 7-inch records, live broadcast radio plays, live and recorded performances, and cinematic installations. Academy Records' productions purposefully utilize simple means, readily available resources, and experimental ideas. Each endeavor is concept specific, and usually of a DIY nature to encompass the various communities and networks of smaller economies.

The constant in Academy Records is Stephen Lacy, who lives and works in the greater Boston area. Academy Records has recently exhibited as part of the New England Biennial at deCordova Sculpture Park & Museum and the Whitney Biennial at The Whitney Museum of American Art, and presented solo shows at Actual Size Los Angeles, Greenlease Gallery, Gallery Wassermuhle, Herron School of Art, Art Gallery of Knoxville, The Hyde Park Art Center, Linda Warren Gallery, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, among others. Stephen Lacy has been artist-in-residence at Good Hatchery in Ireland, Center for Land Use Interpretation in Utah, and Kunstlerstatte Stuhr in Germany.
